There are some partnerships that are just meant to be. Fish and chips. Fred and Ginger. Rach and cupcakes. And now another match made in heaven has materialised… The Nail Library and Christian Louboutin.
Hot on the heels of Christian Louboutin’s nail polish line launch, the iconic French designer has picked nowhere other than The Nail Library for its first ever collaboration with another brand – yep that’s right, a world-exclusive range of Louboutin nail spa treatments, right here in Hong Kong. Polishaholics assemble!
I’ve already told you how much I love The Nail Library – and with its New York cool ambience, top-class technicians and massive range of luxurious lacquer brands, how could any nail aficionado not love the place? Adding Louboutin to the party just makes it even better, with not only the whole range of Louboutin Beauté nail polish colours to pick from, but also a menu of specially designed Louboutin hand and feet treatments too.
The brand has taken over The Nail Library’s top-floor in style; their pamper-perfect “Louboutin Loft” feels even more relaxed and quiet than downstairs, with just two comfy armchairs and a wall display of chic Louboutin artwork. Once you’ve settled in, the Classic Louboutin Manicure begins with a gorgeous rose petal hand soak, followed by a fantastic aromatic oil scrub and shoulder massage – all good enough to inspire several audible sighs of satisfaction.
Normally, the manicure includes application of the brand’s signature Rouge Louboutin colour – but with the whole Louboutin polish line to lust over (all adorably displayed on cute shoe-shaped swatches), I couldn’t resist mixing it up a little instead. I opted for Christian Louboutin Alta Perla as the base colour, a sophisticated khaki-taupe slate-grey shape-shifter, with tips in Scarabee III, a glimmering burnished bronze. Another match made in heaven, if I do say so myself!
The Nail Library’s precision technicians quickly get to work clipping, shaping and tidying your nails and cuticles to perfection. Then there’s a slick of Loubi Primer as underwear, two coats of the colours themselves, and a final application of shiny Loubi Gloss to seal the deal. As ever, you’re treated to The Nail Library’s selection of luxe tipples throughout – rosé champagne if you’re so inclined, although I had mint tea – plus some chocolates if you get the urge (which if you’re me, is always).
After an hour or so of lacquer-related loveliness, my manicure was hot to trot – and I was absolutely head over heels with the results (let’s see how many shoe allusions I can get into this!). It was elegant but eye-catching, and the bronze tips set it off perfectly – a super haute spin on the traditional French manicure.
Alta Perla has some Louboutin magic sprinkled in it for sure; this stunner seemed to subtly shift its shade depending on whatever you posed it with, and Scarabee III’s glowing bronze brought out its chameleon qualities even more – it looked pale grey one minute, mink-taupe the next, and even a cool-khaki from some angles. Once I got home, I realised that it even seemed to match my favourite aquamarine-gold Monica Vinader necklace and my new teal Grana tee. Not intentional I promise… they must have somehow imprinted on me! The manicure lasted about a week in total with mostly just tip-wear.
So if you’re looking for a manicure that’s every bit as luxuriously stylish as your wardrobe (or maybe even more so!), The Nail Library’s Christian Louboutin treatments are a must. It’s haute couture for your nails, dahlings!
