Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer Radiant Pigment highlighter in #13 review

Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer Radiant Pigment 13

Whilst I would love to pretend that every morning I wake up glowing with radiance in the style of a Disney princess, the reality is probably closer to being a member of the Munster family! So for those days where you need a little bit of help to let in the light, may I introduce Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Fluid Sheer Radiant Pigment in #13, from their Spring 2014 Effetto Nudo Collection.

This translucent liquid highlighter is a pretty pearly queen designed to ramp up the radiance – but in a surprisingly subtle and gloriously universal way. However, branding it as just your typical “highlighter” rather undersells it; in addition to streaking it onto your cheek and brow-bones to bring flattering highlights to your face, it’s subtle enough to be blended into your base to give an overall soft glow, or it can even be used as an ever-so-slightly shimmery eye primer too.

The Fluid Sheer Radiant Pigment is applied via a handy pump dispenser and has a flowing liquid consistency that makes it easy to blend with your base. Shade #13 is a limited edition for Spring 2014’s Effetto Nudo Collection; whilst other permanent colours in the Fluid Sheer range come in much stronger shades that are a lot more specific in the skin tones they’re targeted at, #13 is a soft oyster-pink, champagne-hued delight that should blend in harmoniously to almost any complexion – and make said complexion sing!

This Fluid Sheer reminded me a little of Benefit’s That Gal primer, which I also loved for its complexion-awakening glow. It’s rather more understated than That Gal though – the pearlescent shimmer is very fine and subtle, blending almost imperceptibly into your base – so if you prefer your highlighters to be more showy sunflower than shrinking violet, this might be a little too understated for your tastes. On the other hand, it does mean that #13 is insanely easy to add into to your make-up routine and use on a day-to-day basis; you don’t need to be precise or targeted with application at all… just blend out and bask in the glow!

For me, Giorgio Armani’s Fluid Sheer in #13 is a product that’s a nice add-on rather than an essential – but on days where I feel really dull, deathly and like an extra in a Tim Burton movie, it does add a lovely luminosity that makes all the difference. You know, that feeling where you know that you just look that little bit better, even if you can’t quite put your finger on why! (Rach Top Tip: dab onto your brow-bone and around the contours of your eye – this somehow makes you look way more awake!).

So if you’re in the market for a highlighter that doesn’t make you think too hard, makes absolutely zero demands on your make-up skills and provides an effortless and easy everyday glow, then the Fluid Sheer Radiant Pigment in $13 is your perfect match. Given it’s a limited edition, you’ll need to snap it up sooner rather than later… It’s time to let in the light, y’all!
