… I think when you’re fielding several requests a month asking for afternoon tea recommendations in Hong Kong, then it probably means that people have realised your favourite foodie weakness! So when I got invited to the results party for the Hong Kong leg of Dilmah’s Real High Tea Challenge, of course I had to go check it out!
As you can see, these creative afternoon tea sets (which all used Dilmah tea as a core ingredient in their dishes) certainly don’t bear much resemblance to your average cuppa char! Sadly, we weren’t allowed to actually taste the goods but on looks alone, these were definitely pretty special.
Hotel Icon, where the competition was held, also laid on a spread of afternoon tea themed nibbes for us guests (see above). Having tried Hotel Icon’s afternoon tea proper, I can also highly recommend their set for any fellow high tea fiends!
The winners, the Hong Kong Cricket Club and the Island Shangri-La, will now go on to face more national winners at the Dilmah Real High Tea Global Challenge in January 2015. Of course, I didn’t actually manage to take any pictures of the winners – well done, Rach! Nevertheless, sit back and enjoy the #foodporn, folks!
Very interesting indeed!
