Over the last few days, my blog has suddenly received an influx of 3000 visitors. Which is a bit of a change from its previous high of 90. So welcome!
Not that I’m complaining, but can someone please put me out my misery and tell me how you’ve all discovered me?! I can’t get my head around the stats.
So please some considerate soul, leave me a comment to reassure me that you’re not all spambots continually pressing the refresh button. Thanks!

Congrats on the 3,000. Ha, I use SiteMeter with my blog to better understand why people visit–but there are plenty of other good free tools out there that do the same thing.

Alas WordPress search probably can’t explain away all 3000 but thanks for letting me know how you found me! I hope others do the same – and I hope you’ll come back too! 🙂
I suddenly had an influx of people viewing a post about Natasha Bedingfield. I had about 100 views on that post alone for a fortnight solid. Turns out it was because google-imaging “Natasha Bedingfield Unwritten” produced the first result of the image that I used in my post. So to copy and paste the image they had to click the link, hence I got an extra page view.
Have you checked your google search terms in blog stats?
Alternatively, I once had a huge influx because my blog was listed on dashboard under “Fastest Growing WordPress.com blogs” – so yours might have been featured on the dashboard too?!
Whatever it is, it can only be good news for you 🙂
Thanks for the ideas Catherine but that was what was so weird about the whole thing – stats for search engine terms and referrers were low single figures throughout the entire time! Didn’t see it on the dashboard either 😦 So either people were directly entering the URL (who knows the URL?!) or it was indeed, a crazy bot.
I emailed WordPress and they were none the wiser either! I guess we’ll never know… (and it’s gone back to normal now!)
